Draft Letter to Bank for Interest Certificate on Deposit Accounts

Interest certificates, just like TDS certificates, are issued at the end of the financial year for the given financial year only or even for years preceding that.

Interest certificates on the Fixed Deposits opened in a bank can be obtained by submission of a written request in a letter at the bank's branch office. Some of the banks are also providing options in their online net banking website for the customer to download the certificate or to request for it.

These interest certificates are mainly required for income tax return filing purposes for verifying the accuracy of the figures and transaction as well. Interest on Fixed/Term Deposits are subject to income tax. Certain exemptions are allowed subject to fulfillment of eligible conditions under the Income-tax Act.

Following format of letter to the bank manager is for your reference. Fill in all the details accurately.
