Dear Sir/Madam,

I have been a loyal customer of your electricity company for many years. I have always tried to make the payments in due time and never cheated on the electricity consumption by any way. Recently I realized that I have been receiving bills for almost twice the amount I was being billed earlier. I analyzed the daily electricity consumption of my household carefully for the last few months and I am very sure our electricity consumption has not increased that substantially compared to the billing received. Hence, there must be some error in the electric meter. It might have become defective or faulty.

My electricity connection consumer number is ................. with area code .............. at my residential address ........................... I was receiving a billing amount in the range of .......... to .......... For the last two months I have received bills for an amount much higher than the average amount. Last five months bills copies are enclosed herewith.

Therefore, I kindly request you to send your representative to change the current electric meter at our home. I further request you to kindly reissue bills for the earlier two months as they were wrong. In my opinion, the average billing amount of the earlier period can be taken for generating new bills for the last two months or a refund can be adjusted in the next billing.
