Respected Sir/Madam,

I am a student of __th standard of your school. Our ensuing quarterly examination is scheduled to be held from (Date) onwards. In this regard, I beg to state that my mother's health is in critical condition. I am the only child of my parents. I have to spend a lot of my time attending to the daily needs of my mother since she is mostly bedridden throughout the day, while my father is at work. There is no one else presently available to do these works.

I am sad to say that her condition is worsening and she might be needed to be taken to the hospital anytime, for which my presence is required at all times at the house.

Therefore, I will not be able to attend the ensuing quarterly examination on the scheduled dates. I kindly request you to grant me a postponement for this examination. Once the situation gets better, I will be in a position to go to school and attend the exam at any date as may be set forth by the school authority.

I would be grateful to you for your kind consideration in this regard.

Thanking you,
Yours obediently,
