Draft Letter to Bank to Change Zero Balance Account to Normal

A zero balance account, otherwise known as a basic savings bank account, does not come with many features. Hence, the account holder does not enjoy many facilities from the bank for his account that he might want to avail at certain point of time.

If such zero balance account holders want to change and upgrade their accounts, they will have to request the bank in writing for that.

Some banks may accept such requests through simple letters and some banks may ask you to fill up their printed application form, sign and submit it.

Here is a sample of such a request letter for changing zero balance account to normal account. Modify suitably.

I would now like to avail the benefits of a regular savings bank account with features like internet banking, SMS alerts, mobile banking, nomination facility, chequebook facility and other features as may be provided by the bank for such accounts.

Therefore, I request your goodself to kindly convert my basic savings account to a regular savings bank account. I hereby authorize the bank to debit any charges in this regard to complete my request. I am enclosing a copy of my identity and address proof for verification purposes.
