Taking a book from the library and losing it makes a bad impression about you and your sincerity as a student or in general.
You need to inform your parents about this, and need to apologize to the librarian and make good the loss by seeking your parents help on this. Otherwise, you may buy a new book and submit it at the library.
Here is an example on how to write an apology letter to the librarian of your school informing the loss of a library book.
