Apology Letter to the School Librarian for Lost Book (Sample)

Taking a book from the library and losing it makes a bad impression about you and your sincerity as a student or in general.

You need to inform your parents about this, and need to apologize to the librarian and make good the loss by seeking your parents help on this. Otherwise, you may buy a new book and submit it at the library.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am sorry to inform you that the book titled "_____________ by Author: ______" that I had borrowed from the library on (Date) has been lost or misplaced. It was due for return today.

I have looked for the said book in all possible places, but have failed to find it. I think I have lost it during transit somewhere.

I am willing to replace the book with a new one. If I do not find it in any store, I will pay the necessary amount for it to make good the loss. Please let me know the amount. I will let my parents know about it.

I truly regret not being too careful with it. Please accept my sincere apology. I assure you this will not be repeated again. I will be more careful in the future.
