You should lodge a written complaint letter to dispute the inaccurate information in your credit report, as a correct report will be very helpful when you are applying for a loan or anything else based on that credit report.
You can file a dispute letter online or offline with both the credit reporting bureau and the (furnishing) company that reported inaccurate information about you and your account.
You can find information about disputing inaccurate information at consumerfinance.gov .
