A female jobholder may take maternity leave or she may resign from her job due to pregnancy. Generally, when a pregnant woman decides to dedicate her life towards the upbringing of her child by being a homemaker, she chooses to resign from her job.

Although after giving birth to the child, she may decide to come back to her job. Then either she can apply to her previous employer to get her job back or she can apply for a new job position at some other organization.
