Request Letter Format for Closing Bank Account after Death

After the death of a person, his legal heirs can claim his estates including the balance remaining in his bank accounts. In order to make such claims, they have to furnish necessary documents to the bank.

Generally, a bank asks for an application letter, or a duly filled and signed claim form along with documents like death certificate, court order, kyc form, legal heir certificate, last Will, ID proof of the claimant, etc.

Once you submit all the required documents with the bank, they will take some days to verify all the documents. Post which, they will release the money to the claimant's account, or they may give a cheque for the amount.

Here is an example of writing such an application letter by the claimant to the bank to claim the money lying in the account of the deceased.
