Sample Letter for Closure Deactivation of Demat Account

If you want to close your Demat account with your bank or any other company who are registered as Depository Participants, then you should visit their branch office or website to get the application form for closure of the Demat account and to submit it. They mostly accept closure requests through their prescribed application forms.

However, some companies may accept the closure requests in written application letters. The letter should contain all the required information and be signed. It is advisable that you carry a written letter for closure from your side too. While visiting the branch office, do carry your identity and address proof and any other documentary proof of the Demat account of yours.

Here is a format of letter that could be used as it mostly covers all such required points.

If more than one person holds the Demat account, then all persons should sign it at the bottom with their full name under the signature.
